Objective
When I worked at HLK with seven other interns, we built the SK Interiors brand from scrap. My copywriter, Catherine Butler, and I were the only creatives on said team. While designing SK Interior’s brand, my main goal was to highlight the company’s elegance while maintaining its approachability and warmth.
Process
Branding SK Interiors was an exciting process! I started by researching our competitors and interviewing our client to see how I can best interpret her style. I used her favorite colors and wallpaper designs as inspiration when creating the logo, color palette, and assets.
Takeaway
I greatly appreciated this opportunity at HLK! Not only did I get to design a brand from scratch, but I got to practice making Brand Guidelines. The biggest thing I’ve learned while doing this is to ensure your Brand Guidelines are tried and tested so other designers can’t break your system in unexpected ways.
